Bajaj Auto Domestic Sales Climbs 11 pc in June to 2.10-lakh Units
Blue-chip company and India’s leading two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto has reported domestic sales of 2,09,837 units in June 2026, up 11 per cent from the 1,88,460 units in the corresponding month last year.
Total sales, including exports, climbed up a healthy 28 per cent on a Year-on-Year (YoY) basis to 4,63,202 units during the month, as compared to the 3,60,806 units in the year-ago month.
Exports registered a steep northward movement of 47 per cent to 2,53,365 units while domestic volumes increased 11 per cent.
In the two-wheeler segment, domestic sales expanded 12 per cent to 1,66,956 units from 1,49,317 units a year earlier. Two-wheeler exports zoomed a high 49 per cent to 2,22,439 units, taking the total two-wheeler sales to 3,89,395 units.
This is a creditable 30 per cent jump YoY.
An important point that needs to be highlighted here is that Bajaj Auto’s Commercial Vehicles (CV) business also clocked a steady growth.
Domestic Commercial Vehicles sales increased 10 per cent to 42,881 units, while exports also increased healthily, registering a healthy 33 per cent climb to 30,926 units.
Total Commercial Vehicle sales stood at 73,807 units, up 18 per cent from the year-ago period.
For the April-June 2027 period, the company’s domestic sales increased 11 per cent to 7,06,078 units from 6,34,808 units in the corresponding period last year.
Total sales during the quarter moved northward 29 per cent to 14,38,251 units, aided by a robust 54 per cent vault in exports.
As Middle-East Tensions Lessen, India’s FY 27 GDP Outlook Improves, says QuantEco
The country’s macro-economic outlook has brightened following the lessening of tensions in the Middle-East as also a sharp correction in crude oil prices.
While this is encouraging news, what could adversely affect economic growth is an erratic monsoon that has now emerged as a critical near-term risk, stated a report from QuantEco Research.
The company said that with “the energy shock easing, India’s growth-inflation mix improves slightly versus our earlier estimate” and upped its FY 27 GDP growth forecast from 6.2 per cent to 6.4 per cent.
However, the point to note here is that this is still a sharp slide from the 7.7 growth registered last fiscal (FY 26).
QuantEco said that, “the Middle-East crisis that had dominated the macro narration between March and May 2026 has now begun to de-escalate.”
The company stated that following the signing of the US-Iran MoU on June 17, “shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has started to recover after a gap of nearly three-and-a-half months,” while “the wartime risk premium embedded in energy markets is visibly unwinding.”
The average FY 27 Brent crude forecast has been lowered by QuantEco to USD 80-85 per barrel from the earlier USD 95 per barrel on the back of a softer crude outlook.
An important point to note here is the firm’s observation that “this remains the single largest swing factor for India’s macro-outlook.”
On the critical issue of inflation, QuantEco said that it has revised its FY 27 consumer price inflation forecast southward to 5.1 per cent from 5.5 per cent citing softer crude prices.
At the same time, the firm said that CPI inflation “will harden from its subdued level of 2.1 per cent in FY 26” due to “transmitted energy shock already in the system” “the adverse impact of a deficient monsoon” and an “unfavourable statistical base and lagged impact of Rupee depreciation.”
With respect to an interest rate hike by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), QuantEco said that it expects the country’s central bank to begin “a modest hike cycle” raising the repo rate by 25-to-50 basis points (bps) or 0.50 per cent to 5.50-to-5.75 per cent during the second-half (H2) of this fiscal (FY 27).
A basis point is a standard unit of measurement in finance equal to one-hundredth of a percentage point or 0.01 per cent.
A point that requires highlighting here is that the company expects the Rupee to strengthen towards the Rs 92 per dollar mark by the September-December period of this year before moving back to the Rs 95 mark by March 2027.
Sikkim Launches India’s First Himalayan Specialty Coffee Impact District
The north-eastern state of Sikkim has launched the country’s first Himalayan Specialty Coffee Impact District in north Sikkim under a landmark public-private partnership aimed at developing a globally competitive specialty coffee industry.
It also aims to strengthen Sikkim’s internationally recognised organic farming brand.
The initiative was inaugurated on June 24 by Sikkim’s Minister for Forest, Environment and Wildlife and Dzongu MLA Pintso Namgyal Lepcha.
This initiative brings together the Department of Horticulture, Government of Sikkim, the California-based AgrImpact Ventures, its India affiliate the SocioLadder
Group and the Coffee Board of India.
It aims to establish a complete specialty coffee value chain in north Sikkim, covering high-altitude nurseries, farmer training, processing facilities, branding and international market access.
What requires highlighting here is that the project aims to position the Sikkim Organic brand among the world’s leading premium coffee-producing regions.
North Sikkim’s high-altitude terrain, cool climate and organic soils offer ideal conditions for cultivating specialty coffee with distinctive flavour profiles.
Under the partnership, the Sikkim government will facilitate policy support, land access and institutional co-ordination, while AgrImpact ventures and SocioLadder will provide technical expertise, investment facilitation and access to global markets.
Officials have expressed confidence that this project will help bolster rural livelihoods, promote sustainable farming and establish north Sikkim as a recognised premium coffee-growing destination in both domestic and international markets.
India Unlikely to Up Inflation Target; Petrol, Diesel Demand Rises in June: CareEdge
India is unlikely to increase its inflation target with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)’s Governor Mr Sanjay Malhotra saying recently that there “could be a case for lowering it over the long-term as inflation remains well anchored,” according to CareEdge’s bulletin.
An important point it highlighted also included the expanding energy co-operation between India and Japan. It pointed out that both countries have agreed to co-operate across multiple areas, including the development of a strategic petroleum reserve eco-system.
Fuel consumption also remained resilient despite higher prices.
Preliminary data from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) cited by CareEdge, showed petroleum consumption increased by seven per cent Year-on-Year (YoY) in June while diesel demand increased 5.5 per cent.
Globally, the Euro area’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at a record low of 6.2 per cent in May, reflecting “continued labour market resilience despite elevated economic disruptions caused by the West Asia conflict,” the bulletin said.
In the United States (US), factory orders slid 1.3 per cent Month-on-Month (MoM) in May after a revised 5.3 per cent increase in April, although the fall was smaller than market expectations of 1.8 per cent.
Separately, initial jobless claims fell by 1,000 to 2,15,000 in the week ended June 27, below analysts’ expectations of 2,20,000, the bulletin said.
