Mumbai. The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, has crossed another unprecedented milestone, with his personal wealth now exceeding the combined GDP of Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal. In just four days, Musk’s net worth surged by 150 billion dollars to cross 750 billion dollars, or about Rs 67.18 lakh crore. By comparison, the combined GDP of the three neighbouring countries stands at around 555 billion dollars. With this, Musk has become the first individual in global history to reach such a level of personal wealth, underscoring the extraordinary scale of value creation in global technology businesses.

Net worth surge breaks global records

This is the highest net worth ever recorded for any individual. On December 16, Musk’s wealth had already touched 600 billion dollars, but the sharp jump came after a crucial ruling by the Delaware Supreme Court. The court restored Musk’s Tesla compensation package, originally approved in 2018 but cancelled by a lower court in 2024. The decision pushed the value of the package from 56 billion dollars to an estimated 139 billion dollars, triggering the biggest single jump in Musk’s personal wealth and helping him breach the 700 billion dollar mark for the first time.

How Musk wealth compares globally

According to the Forbes Billionaires Index, Musk’s net worth currently stands at 649 billion dollars. This figure is roughly equal to the combined wealth of India’s top 40 richest individuals. More strikingly, Musk’s fortune alone is higher than the combined wealth of the next richest global tech billionaires, including Larry Page, Larry Ellison and Jeff Bezos.

  • Key global comparisons include:
  • Larry Page: 252.6 billion dollars
  • Larry Ellison: 242.7 billion dollars
  • Jeff Bezos: 239.4 billion dollars

Three major drivers behind wealth jump

Musk’s wealth surge is the result of three major developments over the past year.

Tesla pay package restored: The 56 billion dollar stock option plan approved in 2018 was reinstated in December 2025 and has now grown to 139 billion dollars in value.

SpaceX valuation at 800 billion dollars: Internal share sales have valued SpaceX at around 800 billion dollars. Musk holds about 42 percent stake, potentially valuing his holding at over 336 billion dollars if the company lists publicly.

Tesla stock and new pay approval: Tesla’s share price gains and shareholder approval of a new 1 trillion dollar pay package in November 2025 added more than 340 billion dollars to Musk’s wealth during 2025 alone.

Tesla and xAI strengthen Musk empire

Beyond SpaceX, Musk’s wealth continues to be supported by Tesla and his AI venture xAI. Musk owns around 12 percent stake in Tesla, which has seen its shares rise 13 percent so far in 2025. On Monday alone, Tesla stock climbed nearly 4 percent after Musk revealed robotaxi testing without safety monitors on the front passenger seat. His Tesla stake is now valued at around 197 billion dollars. Meanwhile, xAI is in advanced talks to raise 15 billion dollars at a valuation of 230 billion dollars, further boosting Musk’s overall net worth.

From teenage coder to global business icon

Musk’s journey began early. He learned computer programming at the age of 10 and sold his first video game, Blaster, at 12 for 500 dollars. His entrepreneurial rise includes:

  • Zip2, sold to Compaq in 1999 for 307 million dollars
  • PayPal, acquired by eBay in 2002 for 1.5 billion dollars
  • Founding SpaceX in 2002 to reduce space launch costs
  • Leading Tesla from early investor to CEO
  • Launching Neuralink in 2016 to develop brain computer interfaces
  • Today, Musk stands as a defining figure of modern capitalism, reshaping industries from electric vehicles and space travel to artificial intelligence, while rewriting global wealth records.
