The findings are part of the 2026 Barclays Private Clients Hurun India Most Valuable Family Businesses List. According to the report, these business families have added wealth at an average pace of ₹4,076 crore every day over the past two years, reflecting the strong expansion in the value of their businesses and family holdings.
Jindals create most wealth in three years
The Jindal family has emerged as the biggest wealth creator over the past three years, adding ₹3.3 lakh crore to its fortune. Its total net worth has risen 70% to ₹8.02 lakh crore, making the family one of the biggest contributors to the overall rise in wealth among India’s leading business houses.
The key figures show the scale of this wealth creation:
- Combined wealth of 300 family businesses: ₹138 lakh crore
- Increase from 2024: nearly ₹30 lakh crore
- Increase from 2025: ₹1.23 lakh crore
- Average wealth added daily over two years: ₹4,076 crore

Combined wealth bigger than four national economies
Hurun India founder and chief researcher Anas Rahman Junaid said the combined wealth of India’s most valuable family businesses has reached $1.46 trillion, or around ₹138 lakh crore. He said that if the families featured in the ranking were treated as a single country, their combined wealth would correspond to the world’s 18th-largest economy in GDP terms.
The figure is also higher than the GDP of several developed economies, including the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland and Poland. The comparison highlights the enormous economic scale now represented by India’s largest family-controlled enterprises.
Ahuja family posts highest three-year growth
The Ahuja family of Shahi Exports recorded the strongest growth rate in the ranking over the last three years. Its wealth has increased 352% to ₹37,500 crore, making it the fastest-growing family fortune among those tracked in the report. The sharp rise places the Ahuja family ahead on the three-year growth measure, despite its overall wealth remaining below that of the country’s biggest business dynasties.
The report broadly underlines the growing concentration of wealth within India’s established family businesses and the pace at which these fortunes have expanded in recent years. The latest ranking also shows that the scale of family wealth is no longer just a measure of individual business success, but represents an economic value comparable with the output of major countries.
