Mumbai. Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, made a series of major announcements at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference on Sunday, outlining the group’s long-term vision for artificial intelligence, clean energy and large-scale investment in the state. Ambani said Jio will soon launch a people-first AI platform developed in India, beginning from Gujarat, while Reliance plans to invest ₹7 lakh crore in the state over the next five years. He also announced that Jamnagar will host the country’s largest AI-ready data centre, aimed at making artificial intelligence affordable and accessible to every Indian.

AI services for every citizen in own language

Ambani said Jio will launch India’s first people-first AI platform, fully built in the country, with Gujarat as its starting point. The platform will deliver AI services directly to citizens on their devices, in their own languages, enabling faster and more efficient daily work. He said the initiative is designed to democratise AI and ensure it is not limited to large corporations or elite users.

At the same time, Reliance is building India’s largest AI-ready data centre in Jamnagar. The facility will support large-scale AI computing and data processing, with the goal of providing low-cost AI services nationwide. Ambani said Gujarat will emerge as a pioneer in India’s AI journey.

₹7 lakh crore investment plan over five years

Reliance is already Gujarat’s biggest investor. Ambani said the company invested more than ₹3.5 lakh crore in the state over the last five years and will double this amount in the next five years. The ₹7 lakh crore investment, he said, will significantly accelerate Gujarat’s economic growth and job creation.

Key investment highlights include:

  • Expansion of digital and AI infrastructure across the state
  • Large-scale clean energy and green materials projects
  • Strengthening manufacturing and export capabilities
  • Long-term employment generation in new-age sectors

Ambani described Gujarat as more than just a business location for Reliance, calling it the body, heart and soul of the group. He said Reliance is a Gujarati company at its core and will continue to contribute to the state’s progress.

Jamnagar and Kutch to drive green energy push

Ambani announced that Gujarat will be positioned as a global leader in clean energy and green materials. Jamnagar is being developed into the world’s largest integrated clean energy ecosystem, covering the entire value chain.

This ecosystem will include:

  • Solar manufacturing and multi-gigawatt solar power projects
  • Battery storage solutions
  • Green hydrogen and green fertiliser units
  • Sustainable aviation fuel and maritime fuel production

He said Jamnagar, once known for hydrocarbon energy exports, will now become one of the world’s largest exporters of green energy and materials. Kutch will be developed as a global clean energy hub, with round-the-clock clean power supply.

Partnerships and praise for leadership

Ambani recalled that at Reliance’s 48th annual general meeting, the company had announced partnerships with Google and Meta to transform its businesses using AI. These collaborations, he said, will play a key role in scaling AI solutions across sectors.

Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ambani said India has never witnessed such levels of confidence, hope and energy in its independent history. He said the prime minister’s vision has set the direction for the country for the next 50 years, creating an environment where ambitious projects like AI platforms and green energy ecosystems can take shape.
