Mumbai.Maruti Suzuki India will increase the prices of its entire passenger vehicle range by up to ₹30,000 from August 2026, marking the second price hike in just two months. The country's largest carmaker said the decision has been driven by rising input costs and persistent inflationary pressures, despite sustained efforts to absorb a major part of the increase internally. The revised prices will vary across models and variants and will come into effect from next month.
The company informed stock exchanges about the price revision through a regulatory filing on Tuesday. While the exact increase will differ from one model to another, the move will affect every vehicle in Maruti Suzuki's portfolio, from entry-level hatchbacks to premium multi-purpose vehicles. The latest revision follows a similar increase announced in May and implemented in June this year.
Cost Pressures Continue To Weigh
Maruti Suzuki said it had attempted to reduce production expenses over the past few months to minimise the burden on customers. However, elevated inflation, higher raw material costs and an unfavourable business environment have made it necessary to pass on a part of the increased manufacturing cost to buyers.
The company maintained that the decision was unavoidable after absorbing as much of the cost escalation as possible through internal efficiency measures.
Key highlights:
- Prices of all Maruti Suzuki models will rise from August 2026.
- The increase will be up to ₹30,000 depending on the model and variant.
- Rising input costs and inflation remain the primary reasons.
- Customers will bear part of the higher manufacturing expenses.
Second Revision Within Two Months
This is the second price increase announced by Maruti Suzuki in less than two months. In May 2026, the company had announced a price revision of up to ₹30,000, which became effective in June. At that time too, the automaker had cited rising input costs and inflationary pressures as the key reasons behind the decision.
The latest revision will be in addition to the June increase, making new vehicle purchases more expensive for buyers planning to purchase a Maruti Suzuki model in the coming months.
Wide Portfolio Faces Higher Prices
Maruti Suzuki offers one of the widest passenger vehicle portfolios in India, covering multiple price segments. Its current line-up begins with the S-Presso in the entry-level category and extends to the premium Invicto MPV, with ex-showroom prices ranging from about ₹3.50 lakh to ₹25 lakh.
As a result of the latest revision, customers across both budget and premium segments will have to pay higher prices, irrespective of the model they choose.
What The Terms Mean
Regulatory filing refers to the mandatory disclosure that listed companies make to stock exchanges and market regulator SEBI whenever they take major business decisions, announce financial results or revise product prices. Such disclosures ensure transparency for investors and shareholders.
Input cost refers to the total cost of raw materials and components required to manufacture a vehicle, including steel, aluminium, plastic, rubber and electronic parts. When the prices of these materials rise in domestic or international markets, vehicle production becomes more expensive.
Quick takeaways:
- August price hike comes over and above the June increase.
- Higher raw material costs continue to pressure automakers.
- Maruti says internal cost-saving measures were not sufficient.
- Buyers planning a purchase may have to revise their budgets accordingly.
