Mumbai. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is set to introduce instant Provident Fund (PF) withdrawals via Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) by the end of May or early June 2025. This initiative aims to provide members with immediate access to their PF savings, enhancing financial flexibility and convenience.
Five Convenient Methods to Check PF Balance
EPFO offers multiple avenues for members to check their PF balance:
1. EPFO Member Portal:By logging into the EPFO portal with an active UAN and password, members can view detailed passbook entries, including contributions and interest accrued.
2. UMANG App:The Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance (UMANG) allows users to access EPFO services, including balance checks and claim tracking, through a single platform.
3. EPFO Mobile App (m-EPF):This dedicated app provides a user-friendly interface for members to check balances, view passbooks, and monitor claim statuses.
4. SMS Service:Members can send an SMS in the format "EPFOHO UAN ENG" to 7738299899 from their registered mobile number to receive balance details. The service supports multiple languages by replacing "ENG" with the desired language code.
5. Missed Call Service:By giving a missed call to 9966044425 from their registered mobile number, members receive an SMS with their PF balance and last contribution details. This service is free of charge and does not require internet access.
Streamlined Claim Settlement Process
In a bid to expedite claim settlements, EPFO has increased the auto-settlement limit for advance claims from Rs1 lakh to Rs5 lakh. This enhancement is designed to provide quicker access to funds for members in need. Additionally, the requirement for uploading a cancelled cheque or bank passbook image during the withdrawal process has been removed. Members can now verify their bank account details using Aadhaar-based OTP authentication, simplifying the procedure.
Enhanced Digital Infrastructure
EPFO's digital initiatives, including the integration of over 120 databases, have significantly reduced claim processing times. Currently, 95% of claims are settled automatically within three days, a substantial improvement from previous timelines. The organization continues to work towards further reducing processing times and enhancing service delivery through digital means.
