RailOne app offers discount on general tickets as Indian Railways pushes digital bookings for passengers

Winning Bizness Desk

Mumbai.Indian Railways has started offering discounts on unreserved or general tickets booked through its RailOne mobile app from today. Passengers who book tickets on the app and pay through UPI, debit card, credit card or net banking will get a 3 percent discount. Those who use the railway’s own R Wallet for payment will get a higher 6 percent discount. The special scheme will remain valid for six months, till July 14, 2026. The railway had announced this incentive on December 30 as part of its push to move more passengers to digital ticketing.

RailOne offers bigger savings through R Wallet

Under the new scheme, passengers using R Wallet on the RailOne app will get double the benefit. Earlier, R Wallet users were getting a 3 percent discount on general tickets, which has now been increased to 6 percent. This makes R Wallet the cheapest payment option for unreserved ticket booking.

The new discount structure offers

  • 3 percent off on payments through UPI, cards and net banking
  • 6 percent off when paying through R Wallet
  • validity of the scheme for six months

Offer limited only to RailOne app users

Railway officials have made it clear that this discount will not be available on any other platform. Passengers booking unreserved tickets through other apps or websites will not get any benefit. The aim is to encourage more users to shift to the official RailOne app and reduce the long queues at ticket counters at railway stations.

RailOne brings all railway services in one place

RailOne is designed as a one stop solution for train passengers. It brings together services that were earlier spread across multiple apps. Users can now book tickets, check live train status, file complaints and even order food using a single app.

Earlier, passengers had to use

  • IRCTC for ticket booking
  • NTES for live train running status
  • Rail Madad for complaints
  • Food on Track for ordering meals

R Wallet makes railway payments easy and secure

R Wallet is the Indian Railways’ own digital wallet. It allows passengers to pay for tickets and other railway services using money stored in the wallet. It uses mPIN or biometric login to keep transactions safe. Passengers need to register on a railway app like RailOne, add money to the wallet and then use it to book tickets and other services.

How to use RailOne and other features

Passengers can download RailOne for free from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. After installing the app, they need to verify their mobile number with an OTP and set an mPIN or enable biometric login. Once logged in, users can book tickets, track PNR status, get train alerts, file complaints and manage refunds. The app also supports multiple Indian languages and provides real time notifications for bookings, train updates and complaint status, making train travel simpler and more digital friendly.
