Mumbai.Trump’s media company reports Rs 2,200 crore loss as earnings remain just Rs 16 crore in three months

Washington: US President Donald Trump’s media company, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), reported a net loss of around Rs 2,261 crore in the April-June quarter of 2026, while its total revenue stood at just Rs 16.15 crore. The company’s latest financial disclosure highlights the wide gap between its earnings and expenses as it expands beyond social media into streaming, fintech and digital assets.

For the January-June period, TMTG reported a net loss of around Rs 6,118 crore, against total revenue of only Rs 23.75 crore. In other words, the company’s losses during the first six months of the year were nearly 258 times its revenue. TMTG disclosed the figures in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), saying its quarterly loss had risen sharply from the same period last year.

Digital assets emerge as biggest source of losses

The sharp fall in the value of digital assets and shares was the biggest factor behind TMTG’s losses during the quarter. The company recorded a loss of around Rs 1,809 crore from the decline in the value of these assets.

Other major expenses included:

  • Around Rs 111 crore in interest costs.
  • Nearly Rs 77 crore in share-based compensation.
  • Total quarterly revenue of only Rs 16.15 crore.

The company’s revenue remained particularly weak despite its expanding business portfolio. Between April and June, it earned about Rs 13.6 crore from advertising and Rs 1.7 crore from subscriptions. Its main platform is Truth Social, while Truth+ provides video streaming services and Truth.Fi operates in the fintech space. Over the past year, TMTG has also expanded into cryptocurrency-related business.

Truth Social traffic falls sharply over past year

Trump launched Truth Social in 2022 as his own social media platform, but it has struggled to reach the scale of major platforms such as X and Facebook. According to online traffic data cited by The New York Times from Similarweb, visits to the Truth Social website fell by more than one-third in July 2026 compared with the same month last year.

TMTG is listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange under the ticker symbol DJT. Its latest financial results triggered a sharp reaction in the market, with the company’s shares falling nearly 8% on Monday.

Companies pay millions for faster access to Trump posts

TMTG launched a service called Truth API on August 1, allowing companies to receive Trump’s posts directly from Truth Social and access them more quickly. Interim CEO Kevin McGurn said 10 companies have so far subscribed to the service.

The companies are reportedly paying around Rs 57 lakh to Rs 95 lakh every month for access. The service is aimed particularly at businesses and financial firms that closely track Trump’s public statements.

Early access could offer market advantage

Trump’s posts can sometimes have an immediate impact on financial markets, particularly when they concern tariffs, trade restrictions or policy decisions involving specific countries and industries.

For companies receiving the posts directly through Truth API, faster access could provide a crucial time advantage in making market decisions. If Trump announces a new tariff or other major policy move, stocks linked to the affected country or sector could react within minutes.

TMTG’s latest figures, however, show that despite its expanding business ambitions, the company continues to face a steep financial challenge:

  • Revenue in six months: Rs 23.75 crore.
  • Net loss in six months: Rs 6,118 crore.
  • Second-quarter revenue: Rs 16.15 crore.
  • Second-quarter loss: Rs 2,261 crore.
  • Digital asset-related loss: Rs 1,809 crore.
